Working Together: Week of March 26-29
Language: . We will be introduced to digraph ck. As part of our daily phonics lessons, we are learning to omit initial sounds from a word, we are learning to think of words that contain particular sounds, to identify the initial, medial and final sounds in words and to and learning to identify vowel sounds.
Math: Review the Geometric shapes: Trapezoid, hexagon, parallelogram and rhombus.

Geography: This week, as part of our Europe unit study we will visit the countries of Italy, France, Great Britain and Netherlands.

Food tasting: French bread.

Language: . We will be introduced to the long vowel sounds and how these sounds are coded. As part of our daily phonics lessons, we are learning to separate words in compound words, we are learning to manipulate sounds in words, to identify the initial, medial and final sounds in words and to and how to add a long vowel sound to part of a word at the end and make a whole word.
Literature: Discussion on "The Tale of Johnny Town Mouse."

Math: We will be introduced to fractions and continue our unit on greater than and less than number concepts.
Geography: We will conclude our study of Africa through our discussions about Pyramids and mummies. We will be introduced to the continent of Egypt, its animals and discuss about Ireland and St. Patrick's day.

Presentation on Egypt
Many thanks to Mr. Abdelaziz for coming to our class and doing such a informative presentation on Egypt. We loved looking at some of the artifacts you brought to share with us. Each one of us were thrilled to get an Egyptian coin as a keepsake! Thank you Khaled and Hadi for wearing King Tut T-shirts.

Language: . Our letter sound for the week will be combination qu. As part of our daily phonics lessons, we are learning to think of words with the w sound, we are learning to identify the accents on syllables within words, to separate words in compound words and learning to recognize combination sounds and to say combination words.
Math: We will be introduced to the concept of greater than and less than in numbers.
Geography: Introduce the continent of Africa and its animals. We will focus on Egypt and Kenya. At the end of the week we will start our discussion on Ancient Egypt.
