Working Together: Week of March 27-31

Language:  Our letter sounds for this week will be long vowel oo and long vowels with a silent e at the end of the word. As part of our daily phonics lessons, we are listening to the sounds in a word, the two sounds that oo makes and words with these sounds and thinking of words with a th sound in the word.

Journal Writing :Our topic will be spring.

Math: We will start our unit on story problems.

Geography: This week, we will focus on learning about few countries from Europe. The countries will be France, U,K, Italy, Netherlands and Germany.

Science: We will learn about the signs of spring. At the end of the week, we will start our unit on plants. Our focus will be seeds.

Food Prep: Orange Juicing.

Famous Artists:  George Seurat and Claude Monet.

Art: Pussy Willows art project. Recreate Monet's , The Japanese footbridge with the water lilies and paint with Seurat's technique of Pointillism style of art.

Important dates: Young Author' s Day on Friday, March 31.

Working Together: Week of March 13-17

Language:  Our letter sounds for this week will be the digraph th and long vowel oo. As part of our daily phonics lessons, we are listening to the th sound in a word, learning to hear accents on syllables in a word and listening to the long sound of a vowel.

Literature:  Classroom discussion on the story" The Frog Prince."

Math: We will start our unit on time.

Geography: We will finish our unit on Ancient Egypt. We will start our unit on Europe.

Food Prep: Orange Juicing.

Art: Egyptian collar necklace, Pyramids of Giza.

Famous Artist:  Paint Mary Cassatt's "The Boating Party" painting picture with water colors.
