Working together: Week of January 21-24



Working Together: Week of January 21-24
Language:  The letter sounds of the week will b v and j. Please review the word lists your child is bringing home with their daily phonic sheets. We will do a journal writing on, "Winter."
We will start Journal Writing.

Math:  The children will be working with the Montessori Math materials. We will continue our unit on money. The class will also be introduced to measurement and greater than and less than for numerals.

Geography: This week we will explore our own state Kansas.

Science: At the end of the week, we will start our unit on Sea Life.

Artist:  The class will be introduced to Vincent Van Gogh and his famous painting" The Sunflowers." We will recreate his "Sunflowers" painting.

Art: Coffee Filter sunflowers and Great Wall of China painting.

Special Event: On Tuesday, Jan 21 we will have a class presentation on China by Ms. Diane Zhu (Chloe's mom).

Working Together: Week of January 6-10



A very happy and prosperous New Year to all my families. Your children have been so happy to be back in school. Hope you had a wonderful holiday break. I had a relaxing holiday break.

Working Together: Week of January 6-10
Language:  The letter sounds of the week will b y and d. Please review the word lists your child is bringing home with their daily phonic sheets. We will do a journal writing on, "Winter."


Math:  The children will be working with the Montessori Math materials. We will start our unit on money.

Geography: This week we will explore the continent of Asia and learn about the animals that live there. We will learn about three countries from Asia: India, China and Japan.

Science: We will discuss about the winter season.


Art: Paint "Birch trees in winter" and a Snowman.  We will also learn to cut and make paper snowflakes.

Special Event: EC Open house on Thursday, January 9 from 5-7 PM.
