Working Together: Week of February 27- March 3

Language:  Our letter sounds for this week will be the long vowel sounds and digraph ck. As part of our daily phonics lessons, we are listening to the initial, middle and ending sounds in a word, learning to omit the initial sound from a word, and listening to the long sound of a vowel.

Journal Writing: Our topic for this week will be all about frogs.

Math: We will learn about fractions.

Science: We will learn about Amphibians.

Geography: We will start our unit on the continent of Africa. We will learn about the continent, its animals and our country for this week will be Egypt.

Food Prep: Frosting cookies.

Art: Draw the Cat in the Hat on T Shirts.

Famous Artist: Mary Cassatt from America.

Important date: Dress up for Wacky Wednesday for Wednesday on March 1. 
Dr. Seuss run in the gym on March 3 at 8:30 AM.

Language:  Our letter sounds for this week will be combination qu and the long vowel sounds. As part of our daily phonics lessons, we are listening to the kw sound in a word, learning to say a compound word with out the last word and learning to add a long vowel sound to the end part of a word.

Journal Writing: Our topic for this week will be Presidents.

Math: We will learn about the quarter and finish our money unit.

Geography: We will learn about few of the states from USA and conclude our study on USA.

Special Food Prep for Monday: Decorating the President's Day cake.

Art: Draw and color the Statue of Liberty.

Language:  Our letter sounds for this week will be w and combination qu. As part of our daily phonics lessons, we are identifying the accented syllable in a word, listening to the w sound in a sentence and separating compound words.

Journal Writing: Our topic for this week will be Valentine's  theme.

Math: We will learn about the dime.

Geography: We will learn how USA became a nation, symbols of our country and our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln.

Food Prep: Cookie Frosting.

Art: Valentine's art project and push pinning the Presidents.

Special event: Valentine's Party on Tuesday, February 14 from 9:15 AM.
