Language: . Our letter sounds for the week will be y and d. As apart of our daily phonics lessons, we are learning to hear the vowel in a word, listening to the y sound in a word, identifying the initial , middle and final sounds in words  and listening to the y sound in a word.

Math: We will be continuing our study on the penny.

Geography: This week we will finish our study of Kansas and the pioneers.

Science: We will start our unit on Sea life.

Art: Draw a sea life picture with crayons and do a water color wash over it.

Writing: This week we will learn to write the letter d. 

Special Event: Pioneer Day on Monday, January 29 from 8:30-11.

Parent Teacher Conferences: Thursday & Friday: Feb 1 & 2:  No school

Presentation on Taiwan/ China

Thank you so much Mrs. Winnie Yu and Annabelle for such a very engaging and informative presentation on Taiwan/ China. The kids just loved it.

Language: . Our letter sounds for the week will be e and y. As apart of our daily phonics lessons, we are learning to listen to whether two words are the same or different, learning to alphabetize letters, and listening to the e and y sounds in words.

Math: We are learning the different ways to make tens with the beads. Also, we will start our unit on money.

Geography: This week we will start our unit on Kansas. 

Writing: This week we will learn to write the letter e and y. Write about your State, "Kansas."

Art: Art projects related to Kansas.

Famous Artist: Vincent Van Gogh and his Sunflowers painting.

Special Presentation: Annabelle's Mom, Mrs. Winnie. Yu will do a presentation on Taiwan.

Field Trip: KG Field Trip to the Kauffman Museum on Wednesday, January 25.

Working Together: Week of January 8-12

Language: . Our letter sound for the week will be c. As apart of our daily phonics lessons, we are learning to listen to whether two words are the same or different, learning to alphabetize letters, identifying rhyming words and learning to listen to the vowel sound in a word.

Math: As part of our math curriculum, we will be introduced to the clock. As a class, we are learning to count by 2's, 5's and 10's.

Geography: This week we will learn about the continent of Asia. We will learn about its animals and will focus on three of its countries: India, China and Japan.

Social Studies: At the end of the week, we will discuss about Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr

Writing: This week we will learn to write the letter c.

Art: Art projects related to Asia. Also, the class will recreate the American artist, Dale Chihuly's style glass creations with plastic plates.

Important Dates: Thursday, January 11: The Next Big Step: The Kg families and students visit our Lower School 1st Grade from 6:30-7:30 PM.
Thursday, January 11: EC Open House from 5-7 PM.
