Working Together: Week of February 26- March 2

Language: . Our letter sound for the week will be x and w. As part of our daily phonics lessons, we are learning to think of words that contain particular sounds, learning to identify the accent on a syllable within a word, and learning to recognize letter sounds and to count those sounds. We will also focus on rhyming words as we observe Dr. Seuss week.

Literature: Discussion on Nature Speaks: Poems from Junior Great Books.

Math:  We will  be introduced to  word problems.

Journal Writing: USA.

Social Studies: Learn about few African American heroes: Rosa Parks, and Jackie Robinson.

Science: Discussion on Amphibians and the Life cycle of a frog.

Writing: This week we will learn to write the letter x and w.

Art: Guided drawing: The Statue of Liberty and Dr. Seuss related art project.

Famous Artist: Discussion on Mary Cassatt and paint with water colors:  The Boating Party.

Food Prep: Cat in the Hat, Fruit Kabobs.

Wednesday, February 28: Dress up for Wacky Wednesday.

Language: . Our letter sound for the week will be x. As part of our daily phonics lessons, we are learning to identify the initial, medial and final sounds in words, listening to the x sound in a word, and think of words that make particular sounds.

Math: We will be conclude our money unit by introducing the quarter. We will also be introduced to fractions.

Journal Writing: USA.

Geography: USA, President's day.

Writing: This week we will learn to write the letter x.

Art: Guided drawing: The Statue of Liberty.

Famous Artist: Mary Cassatt, water color painting: The Boating Party.

Food Prep: Clementine Peeling/ Decorate the President's Day cake as a class.

No school: Friday, February 23: Teacher-In-Service day.
