Language:  Review sight words, letter sounds, rhyming words, syllables in a word.

Foreign lang: Practice Easy French phrases.

Journal Writing :Our topic will be Human Body.

Math: We will  start reviewing  addition / subtraction / graphing.

Science: We will discuss about mammals and the Human Body.

Art:   Color and cut the  heart/ lungs/ brain/ face/ stomach/ small intestines and glue them to the paper bodies.

Food Prep: Ladybug Cupcakes.

Special Event: Kentucky Derby race on Friday, May 5.

Working Together: Week of April 24-28

Language:  This week we will conclude our Saxon Phonics lessons. Our phonics lessons for this week will be how to divide and label a word.  As part of our daily phonics lessons, we are learning to separate words in compound words, learning to manipulate onsets in words in order to make new words, and to determine the number of sounds in  a word.

Journal Writing :Our topic will be "April showers bring May flowers."

Math: We will  start reviewing  the shapes of geometry.

Science: We will discuss about weather and  some weather patterns.

Geography: This week we will be learn about the Amazon Rain Forest: The layers of the rain forest, the animals that live there, who do we need to save the rain forest.

Social Studies: Discussion on Earth day.

Art:       Push pin continents and put together the one dimensional globe.

Food Prep: Ladybug Cupcakes.

Special Event: Kindergarten Field day: Thursday April 27/ Friday, April 28.

Language:  Our letter sounds for this week will be combination or and er. As part of our daily phonics lessons, we are learning to separate and exchange words in compound words, learning to substitute sounds in words  and listening to the sounds in  a word.

Journal Writing :Our topic will be insects.

Math: We are learning number comparisons:  greater than, less than and equal to.

Science: We are going to learn about reptiles.

Geography: Our continent study for this month will be South America. We will learn about its animals with special emphasis on the Amazon Rain forest. We will also learn about few of the countries of South America: Brazil, Argentina and Chile.

Famous Artists:  Leonardo Da Vinci.

Language:  Our letter sounds for this week will be long vowels u, o, i and e and digraph ch. As part of our daily phonics lessons, we are learning to un blend initial consonant sounds in a word, listening to the long vowel sounds in words and manipulating sounds in words.

Journal Writing :Our topic will be plants.

Math: We will finish our unit on story problems.

Science: We are learning about the plant: Life cycle of the plant, the importance of seeds, roots, leaves and flowers.  We will finish our unit with the discussion about the importance of plants. We will start our unit on insects at the end of the week.

Art: Book Extension art project: "The Tiny seed",  draw and color  Picasso's Cubism face.
