Week of September 29 - October 3

Working Together: Week of September 29- October 3


Many thanks to Mrs. Manamperi for coming to our class and teaching the children how to work with the Montessori materials. Thank you Mrs.Yetter for teaching the children.

Language: The class is working on the daily Saxon phonics program.

Handwriting: The children are learning the proper formation of letters through the Handwriting without tears program.

Math: We are going to learn to do skip counting by 2s 5s and 10s.

 Science:  Our unit will be, Magnets. We will have fun creating sculptures with magnets and explore with a horseshoe magnet to see what is magnetic and non magnetic.

Geography: Our unit will be Volcanoes. We will learn about:

The parts of the volcano
How does a volcano erupt
Make our own volcanic explosion with red paint

Special event: Classroom visitations on Tuesday: September 30 and  Wednesday: October 1

Working Together: Week of September 15-19

 Science: This week our unit study will be on apples. We are going learn:

The parts of an apple
Life cycle of an apple
Things you can make with an apple

We will learn to identify the various types of apple and will taste some of the apples.

Special event: Inviting all our Dad's to attend Dad's day on Friday, Sept 19 from 1 PM to 2:30 PM.

Working Together: Week of September 7-12


Many thanks to Mrs. Ineke Wolfe for coming to our class and teaching the children how to work with the Montessori materials. Thank you Mrs. Yetter for taking care of the classroom.

Language: The class is working on the daily Saxon phonics program.

Handwriting: The children are learning the proper formation of letters through the Handwriting without tears program.

Geography/ Science: Last week, we finished learning about the planets. This week we will explore space: rockets, space shuttles, astronauts, man's landing on the moon etc.

The children are exploring the different areas of the classroom. Many thanks for providing healthy snacks.
